Webex

Webex.com Homepage Redesign

Role: Sr. Product Design Manager

Leading the Webex homepage redesign, we boosted user signups by 27% through sharper visuals and streamlined interactions, showcasing Webex’s value and driving growth.

Situation:

The original Webex homepage, designed by an external firm, didn’t meet executive expectations and lacked cohesive design flow. Executives felt it was too long, with weak layout logic and poor visual hierarchy. Our UX team was tasked with a full redesign to improve user engagement and maintain revenue impact.

Task:

As Sr. Product Design Manager, I led the high-stakes redesign, collaborating with a Product Manager, four Product Designers, and a content strategist. Our goals were clear: optimize the design quality, reduce page length, and align the homepage with our strategic vision—all while preserving revenue.

Action:

  • Developed a roadmap and engaged a Lead User Researcher for quick, thorough user research.

  • Established a clear grid system to unify page elements and create visual consistency.

  • Implemented a content strategy to balance storytelling with business objectives, highlighting Webex’s software and hardware offerings.

  • Designed a hero video header for brand alignment and visual impact, collaborating closely with marketing.

Results:

  • Increased user signups by 27%, driving substantial growth in acquisition.

  • Improved authenticated users by 11%, return visits by 7%, and conversions by 6%.

  • Executive praise for the homepage’s strategic alignment, enhancing Webex’s brand image.

  • Continued gains in click-through rates.

MIT

MIT xPRO Platform

Role: UX Design Manager & Design Lead

We revamped MIT xPRO’s platform, turning a clunky, analog process into a smooth digital portal where users can easily browse courses, purchase licenses, and enroll in minutes—opening the door to both enterprises and individual learners.

Situation:
MIT Open Learning needed to shift its xPRO online learning platform to better serve enterprise and individual users. The current system relied on manual processes—emails, calls, and wire transfers—to complete course sales and handle enrollments.

Task:
Redesign the xPRO platform to simplify the course catalog browsing, payment processing, and enrollment for a streamlined user experience, all within a tight five-month timeline.

Action:
As a Design Leader, I led the planning, requirements gathering, and strategy, designing a new portal where users could explore courses, upload payments, and complete enrollment independently. I oversaw the prototyping and visual design, directing full-stack engineers through each phase.

Results:

  • Launched on time, enabling seamless enrollment for individual learners and businesses alike.

  • Enabled xPRO to expand beyond enterprise clients, opening up to a broader individual learner base.

  • Enhanced the sales process, leading to bulk license sales with clients like Boeing, the U.S. Army, and IBM.

  • Generated over $15.7 million in gross revenue.

CVS

CVS Check Store Availability feature.

Role: Design Lead

I designed the "Check Store Availability" feature to give CVS customers, especially the 35-55 demographic, real-time inventory updates across 9,000+ stores. It streamlined the shopping experience for users and became a powerful tool for the Buying and Allocations team.

Situation
CVS needed a real-time "Check Store Availability" feature for products across 9,000+ stores, catering to the 35-55 demographic that makes up 39% of CVS customers. This required seamless integration between warehouse, retail, and e-commerce systems while coordinating across departments for an on-time launch.

Task
As Design Lead, I directed planning, strategy, and design, overseeing three UX reports and two in-house developers. The challenge was to create a simple, user-friendly experience for customers, with buy-in from multiple departments and complex system integration.

Action

  • Prioritized user feedback end-to-end and mapped out a collaborative project plan.

  • Aligned stakeholders with a clear strategy focused on the development process and scheduled rounds of user testing.

  • Designed with geo-location and location-entry options to improve UX for logged-out users, addressing usability issues uncovered in initial tests.

Results

  • Launched on time with positive feedback from 9,000+ stores nationwide.

  • Improved inventory visibility for buying teams, enhancing real-time restock solutions.

  • Integrated CVS’s Facebook comments into UX insights, enriching customer feedback data.
